For centuries, clay has been used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes in many cultures. Nowadays, clay face masks are used as one of the most effective natural treatments for skin problems. Clay can help remove impurities, release toxins and irritant substances that can cause problems for your skin.

GHASSOUL CLAY

Ghassoul clay (Rassoul or Rhassoul) is found in only one place in the world at Tamdafelt in the northwest of Morocco, near the city of Fez. It is mined by hand in an underground mine.

It is perfect for the care of acne, oily and combination skin and is a rich source of silicon, magnesium, potassium, aluminium, copper, calcium, iron, lithium and zinc compounds.

Ghassoul clay perfectly mats the skin, reduces the secretion of sebum and regulates the work of sebaceous glands.

• Potent detoxifier – the molecular structure of ghassoul clay makes it highly effective in removing bacteria, toxins and pollution from the skin; that’s why the use of a ghassoul clay mask helps to restore the face’s softness and tone. 
• Natural cleanser – ghassoul acts on the skin’s surface and removes excess dirt and sebum, allowing your pores to breathe meaning you’ll see a reduction in acne, blackheads and pimples.
• Exfoliant and clarifier – ghassoul clay has a mild abrasive texture and its mineral composition helps to reduce skin dryness and improve skin clarity. It does this by removing layers of dead skin and unclogging the pores.
• Anti-ageing treatment – ageing is inevitable, but the silica in ghassoul clay helps to stimulate collagen production, which reverses the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines caused by ageing.

It also has skin soothing effects; it helps with inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Make a soothing mask with ghassoul clay and coconut milk to get quick relief. Mix 2 tsp of ghassoul clay with enough coconut milk to make a paste. Apply onto skin where the irritation is, and leave to dry before gently washing off with warm water.

MAKE YOUR OWN CLAY MASK

• Mix a small amount of the clay with one of our floral waters until it forms into a smooth paste.
• Apply the clay mask on the face or body and leave for approx 10 to 15 minutes, or until the paste dries.
• Rinse with lukewarm water and pat the face dry with a soft towel.
• You can even add essential oils to the clay mask for better results.
